About This Service
The diphtheria/pertussis/and tetanus vaccine/also known as the Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) vaccine/is a vaccine that protects against 3 important diseases:
- Diphtheria (Diphtheria) is a bacterial infection. Causes a membrane in the throat. This can result in breathing difficulties and severe complications.
- Whooping cough (Pertussis) or asthma is a respiratory infection that causes a severe/continuous cough that can be dangerous.
- Tetanus is a disease caused by bacteria that releases toxins into the nervous system. Causes muscle spasms and convulsions. If severe/it can cause death.
When should I get the vaccine?
All children should receive three doses of the diphtheria/pertussis/and tetanus vaccine during the first year after birth. (Starting at age 2 months/4 months/and 6 months)
and receive another booster dose when they reach 18 months of age. There will also be two more booster injections for students in Prathom 1 and Prathom 6 (combined with the inactivated polio vaccine).
