About This Service
Prevent pneumococcal infections that cause severe pneumonia, meningitis, and bloodstream infections with the IPD vaccine. This vaccination effectively prevents infections and provides excellent protection against antibiotic-resistant strains.
When can the IPD vaccine be administered?
The IPD vaccine can be administered starting at 2 months of age, with the number of doses depending on the child’s age at the time of the first dose, as follows:
- Starting at 2 months: Administer 4 doses at 2, 4, 6, and 15 months of age, respectively.
- Starting at 7 months: Administer 3 doses at 7, 9, and 15 months of age, respectively.
- Starting at 12 months: Administer 2 doses at 13 and 15 months of age, respectively.
- Starting at 2 years or older:
- For the 13-valent vaccine: Administer 1 dose.
- For the 10-valent vaccine: Administer 2 doses, 2 months apart.
