About This Service
Pneumonia (also known as pneumonitis) is a disease that carries a high risk of complications, such as bloodstream infections or respiratory failure, which can be prevented through vaccination.
Who should receive the vaccine?
- Seniors aged 50 and above
- Individuals with chronic health conditions, such as chronic kidney disease, chronic heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), congenital anemia, diabetes, chronic alcoholism, liver cirrhosis, etc.
- Immunocompromised individuals, such as those with HIV, lymphoma, leukemia, or those undergoing immunosuppressive therapy or organ transplantation.
- Smokers or individuals with chronic asthma.
Additional Note: For individuals aged 65 and older, doctors may recommend receiving both PREVNAR 13 and PNEUMOVAX 23 vaccines. PREVNAR 13 should be administered first, followed by PNEUMOVAX 23, with a 6-12 month gap between doses.
