Hepatitis B Vaccine (3 Doses) [M2MED240068]
About This Service
Hepatitis B Disease
Hepatitis B is caused by the hepatitis B virus and is transmitted through contact with the blood or bodily fluids of an infected person. It can spread via open wounds, sharing personal items contaminated with blood or bodily fluids (e.g., razors, toothbrushes), sexual contact, shared needles, and from mother to child. If the body cannot clear the virus, it may lead to chronic infection, increasing the risk of cirrhosis and liver cancer.
Symptoms Indicating Hepatitis B
Fever, loss of appetite, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, pain in the right ribcage, jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes).
If the virus is not cleared, the individual becomes a carrier, which poses a risk of transmitting the virus to others and developing cirrhosis or liver cancer.
Hepatitis B Vaccine
The vaccine is made from the outer protein of the hepatitis B virus and is administered intramuscularly in three doses at 0, 1, and 6 months.
Who "should" receive the hepatitis B vaccine?

- Travelers to countries with high hepatitis B prevalence.
- Children older than 10 years and adults should undergo a blood test before vaccination to check for pre-existing immunity, as some individuals may have natural immunity from prior infection.
- Who "should not" receive the hepatitis B vaccine?

- Individuals with fever or acute illness should postpone vaccination until recovery.
