Symptoms include loss of appetite, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, right upper abdominal pain, jaundice (yellow skin and eyes), and liver failure. This disease typically resolves on its own without leading to chronic liver disease.
Vaccine: Made from inactivated Hepatitis A virus, it is safe and effective. It is administered as an intramuscular injection in two doses, spaced 6–12 months apart.

Disease Overview: Caused by the Hepatitis B virus, it is transmitted through contact with the blood or bodily fluids of an infected person, such as through shared personal items, sexual contact, or from mother to baby during childbirth. Symptoms include fever, loss of appetite, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, right upper abdominal pain, jaundice, and liver failure. If the body cannot eliminate the virus, the person may become a carrier and face a higher risk of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer.
Vaccine: Made from the surface protein of the Hepatitis B virus, it is administered as an intramuscular injection in three doses, at 0, 1, and 6 months.
Who Should Get Vaccinated:
- All newborns and those who have not previously received the vaccine
- People at risk of exposure, such as partners of Hepatitis B carriers, healthcare workers, and individuals who use drugs
