RT-PCR is the method recommended by the World Health Organization. A sample is collected from a person’s nose and/or throat. If the virus is present in the lungs, the mucus will also be collected to detect Covid-19.  This method of COVID-19 testing only performs in an accredited medical laboratory to prevent contamination from the surrounding environment.
